Issue description

Dear Readers,

The Labor Law and Labor Procedure Journal, organized by ANAMATRA — National Association of Labor Court Judges in partnership with LTr Editora, addresses in this issue the theme previously chosen for the 20th CONAMAT — National Congress of Labor Court Judges, the largest and most important event for members. In addition to legal topics, it discusses association policy and directs the organization's institutional activities.

Due to the worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic, the event had to be canceled and will resume its normal schedule in 2022. Despite the above, the topic that would have been addressed in the 2020 edition remains highly relevant and demands further reflection and in-depth study.

The selected material, of the highest quality, deals with: “LABOR JUSTICE AND SOCIAL PROTECTION: CONTEMPORANEITY AND FUTURE”, including judicial acts and articles related to Covid-19, the pandemic period or post-pandemic, due to its numerous impacts on labor relations.

Labor law reforms and legislation enacted during the pandemic have had a variety of impacts on the world of work and, consequently, on the assessment of lawsuits filed in the Labor Courts.

The unprecedented health, humanitarian, and economic crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the loss of millions of jobs, the closure of businesses, and the suspension of activities, all of which have also affected workers' protection and rights.

Thus, the discussion on social protection in the current context, given the transformations in social legislation and for the post-pandemic period and the future, is central and multifaceted, requiring collective efforts to minimize the devastating global effects not only on people's health and lives, but also on their occupations, livelihoods, and social interactions.

Literary production is essential to aid in the development of new interpretations, the promotion of pioneering lines of argument, and the formation of jurisprudence focused on the effective protection and guarantee of workers' social rights by the Labor Courts.

An excellent read!
